Reference Information
Title - Chronicle: capture, exploration, and the playback of document workflow histories
Authors -Tovi Grossman, Justin Matejka, and George Fitzmaurice

Summary
This article is based on the idea of saving user events into a stored location. This would allow users to go back in time and see exactly how or why they did soemthing. Chronicle provides users with a timeline and allows them to go back to events, particclar the more important ones. Users can see when things were deleted, created, etc at any point during the timeline. Another feature of Chronicle is the video playback. It allows users to seewhat they did in a real time atmosphere. The authors explain that this tool would be very helpful for instructional purposese. If a student wasnted to see exactly how the professor did something, they could simply just play the video feed back and watch for themselves. The authors did a study of qualitative information involving 8 different users with previoud image editing experiance. Just about all of them had alot of success and found the tool to be extremely useful.

Discussion
I really liked reading this article on document workflow histories. This was focused mainly on image editing. I could see how useful this would be for almost any application. For example, Google Wave, attempted this type of application. The tool was basically a chat that could be played back to see exactly who joined and when. Also, you could see when items were added to the chat, and in what particular sequence. I also believe that this could be used in an educational setting to provide students with another technology.

  1. I agree this would definitely be useful in educational settings. I didn't know Google Wave had a feature like that, interesting.
